Pragmata Save System Guide

Pragmata uses a hybrid save terminal + autosave model. Knowing exactly when the game writes is the difference between recovery and a lost run.

Save terminals

  • Identifiable by the cyan diamond hologram. Roughly one per major room or before each boss.
  • Saves are manual — opening a terminal doesn't auto-save; you must confirm.
  • You can also change difficulty, spend lunafilament, and read REM data at the same terminal.

Autosaves

The game silently autosaves on these triggers:

  • Entering a new chapter.
  • Defeating a boss (after the cinematic, NOT during).
  • Solving a story-required hacking puzzle.
  • Crossing the Memory Vault elevator (the point of no return).

Save slots

Three manual slots + one autosave slot per profile. We strongly recommend keeping a separate "pre-Vault elevator" save in slot 3 — this is the only way to retry the True Ending route without restarting NG+ if you accidentally trigger Diana Shadow without the Cipher.

NG+ carry-over

When you finish the game on any ending, a "Start NG+" option appears at the title screen. NG+ is not a save overwrite — it creates a new file. See NG+ guide for what carries over.

Recovery scenarios

  • Bad Ending unlocked — cannot be reverted on the same save. Restart NG+ from a clean True Ending file.
  • Missed Final HP Upgrade — also locked once past the elevator autosave. Restart from your slot-3 backup.
  • Soft-locked in a hacking puzzle — pause menu → "Reset Puzzle" → no progress lost outside the room.
