All Pragmata Hacking Puzzle Solutions

Pragmata's hacking system runs in real time while Hugh fights for his life. These pages give you Diana's exact path AND what Hugh should be doing — so you don't die solving the grid.

How Pragmata hacking works

Hacking is the central mechanic that distinguishes Pragmata from every other Capcom action game. Big sites describe it in one line; here is the full breakdown so you understand what every puzzle is actually testing.

The dual-control loop

  • Diana auto-traces a hex grid. You input the next tile direction with the right stick (or arrow keys on PC).
  • Hugh remains under your full action control — aim, shoot, jetpack, dodge.
  • If Hugh takes damage, Diana's progress freezes for ~0.6 s. Stack hits and the grid will time out.
  • If Hugh dies, the puzzle resets entirely and the room re-spawns enemies.

Grid mechanics

  • Commit nodes are the bright tiles you must visit in sequence. Each commit locks in progress — you cannot lose it after that point.
  • Red tiles deal damage to the timer (each touch ‑3 s). Blue tiles regenerate a small amount of health. Yellow tiles are conditional (chapter-specific rules).
  • Timer ranges 8–60 s by difficulty. Hacking Module I (Ch.2 reward) adds +1 s globally.
  • Audio cue — every commit pulses a beat. Sync your finishing input to the beat to skip the ~0.4 s commit animation.

Tier of hacking puzzles

  • Tutorial / Easy: tile path is fixed and mostly linear (e.g. 1-1, 1-2).
  • Medium: introduces double circuits or audio sync (e.g. 2-3, 3-1).
  • Hard: phase tiles, randomised symbols, time pressure under boss damage (e.g. 4-3, 3-3).
  • Brutal: only one — Puzzle 5-7, the Secret Cipher.

Universal tips

  • Equip the Standard Pistol before triggering a hack — it has flat recoil and you won't break aim during inputs.
  • Read every REM data file as you find it. The 'Echo-04' gift extends every later timer by 1 s.
  • Use the jetpack hover to dodge during hacks — it does not interrupt Diana's path.
  • Buy the Reload Speed I upgrade before Chapter 4 — phase enemies in puzzle rooms shred ammo otherwise.

FAQ

Hacking Puzzle FAQ

How does Pragmata hacking work?

Hacking is a real-time co-op puzzle. Diana, the AI girl, traces a path through a hex grid while Hugh keeps her alive. The grid has commit nodes you reach in sequence; if Hugh dies or the timer runs out, the puzzle resets. Every puzzle has a unique twist (mirror grids, phase tiles, audio sync, etc.).

How long do I have to solve each hacking puzzle?

Timers vary by difficulty. Easy puzzles give about 60 seconds, Medium 30–45, Hard 20–30, Brutal 8–15. Hacking Module I (REM 'Echo-04' reward, Chapter 2) adds +1 second to every active timer.

What weapon should I use during a hacking puzzle?

Equip the Standard Pistol. It has flat recoil, infinite reserves and won't break Diana's solve concentration. Save Pulse Rifle / Stagger Cannon ammo for between-puzzle combat.

Are hacking puzzles randomised?

Most grids are fixed. Two are randomised per run: Puzzle 3-3 (Reactor Vent — symbol order rerolls) and Puzzle 5-7 (the True Ending Cipher — secret tile sequence rerolls). For everything else our solutions are exact.

Which hacking puzzle is required for the True Ending?

Puzzle 5-7 (the Secret Cipher) in Chapter 5 must be completed before engaging Diana Shadow — that unlocks her phase 2 and the True Ending flag.

Can I skip hacking puzzles?

No. Every puzzle gates progression or a critical reward. Story-required puzzles (Ch.1-1, 2-1, 3-3, 4-1, 5-2) cannot be skipped. Optional puzzles (e.g. 2-5, 4-3) gate upgrades you'll regret missing.
